2018年のKOBE芸術祭にて藤本由紀夫は「ある時間、わずかに差し込む太陽の光との出会い」を作品に試み、（自然の）光が生み出す予測できないもうひとつの鑑賞空間を創出してみせた。　林勇気は2016年の京都芸術センターでの個展「電源を切ると何もみえなくなる事」で電源を意図的に落とすことでより現実的な空間を展覧会という非日常の鑑賞空間に現出させた。
今展は藤本由紀夫と映像作家の林勇気が「光」をキーワードに各人自在に展開するものである。　藤本が示した「融通無碍（ゆうずうむげ）」という言葉。　林が選んだイメージは蝋燭の灯の光から映る影。スマートフォンの画面をなぞる指の動き、「光」は揺らぎながら幾重にも影を映し空間を覆う。　藤本の作品 「Notes 1980」の源流は1980年に発表されたNormal Brainのテキストにある。 「光」を用いた装置は重層的な視界を見るものに開かせてくれる。　光は重なりあうことで強弱ができ、濃淡をうむが、決して溶け合わない。　各々の光と影は融合も分裂もなく融通無碍にギャラリーの小さな空間を分かち合う。
Yuze muge　 Yuki hayashi x Yukio fujimoto 展は「光」というメディアを通して表現される二人のアーチストの新たなセッションとなるだろう。

In 2018, at the Port City Kobe Art Festival, Yukio Fujimoto made a work entitled “Encountering the Sunlight shining through quietly at a certain time”.  He used natural variations in sunlight to create an unpredictable space.  In his one man show at Kyoto Art Centre in 2016, Yuki Hayashi, consciously turned off the power to achieve a state when “you can’t see anything after you have turned the light off”, and he succeeded to build a very usual space in an unusual space, namely an exhibition space.

In this exhibition Yukio Fujimoto and the video artist Yuki Hayashi have evolved independently starting with the key word “Light”.  Fujimoto suggested that they should use the phrase “Yuzu muge”.  This has its origins in Buddhism and signifies a free state of mind without ties to any specific thoughts or actions.  The exhibition provides an experience similar to a free improvisation session.  Both artists agreed on the word “Light”. The image chosen by Hayashi is the shadow of the candle light. The movement of the fingers that follow the screen of the smartphone, “Light”, casts shadows several times while covering, and covers the space. Fujimoto’s new work Notes 1980 incorporates the text of s Normal Brain, which was announced in 1980. Devices using “Light” with the canvas work can open up to a multi-layered view

Both lights juxtapose, making the overall illumination first strong and then weak as well as casting shadows; but the two lights never merge.  The light and shade of their works share the same small gallery space freely without constraints (Yuzu muge); and they are neither merged nor split.

“Yuzu muge, Yuki Hayashi x Yukio Fujimori” is a new approach for them both through expression using the medium of “Light”.
